The Institute of Reliable Embedded Systems and Communication Electronics (ivESK) of Offenburg University (HO),
the Mycetoma Research Center (MRC) of the University of Khartoum and the department of Computer Science of Comboni College of Science and Technology (CCST)
continue their collaboration thanks to the funding of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
The project manager, Dr. Christian Reich (HO), Prof. Ahmed Fahal (MRC), Muna Khamis and Fr. Jorge Naranjo (CCST)
met in Cairo with the online participation of Dr. Hyam Ali (MRC) and Rogaia Ibrahim (CCST) to analyse the progress of
the project that aims to predict mycetoma clinical and treatment outcomes and improve diagnostic accuracy.
Mycetoma is a neglected tropical disease that affects, as Prof. Ahmed states, “to the poorest of the poorest” in some regions of Sudan (Al-Jazira, Sennar, Kordofan)
and many other countries in the world at similar latitudes.
At the end of the workshop, the team identified some research lines to continue this collaboration.
